  • What could the home owners expect?
Home owners could expect a one-stop service from I-home, or they are free to have other tiling contractors to complete tile installation before engaging us for epoxy grouting services. However, we know what we are doing the best, we highly recommend home owners who are changing tiles to engage us from tile installation all the way to epoxy grouting completion. In this case, not only could you enjoy a hassle-free process, but also get a chance for a competitive pricing.
  • What kind of one-stop service can you provide?
We are specializing in tile installation and epoxy grouting services. With us, you could experience one-stop service from tile installation, epoxy grout color selection, epoxy grout application and finally tile protection by laying protecting sheets on your tiles. In this way, your home tiling and grouting experience will be seamless with us.
  • Can home owners stay at home during grouting service?
Yes, owners can usually stay at home during an epoxy grouting service, but there are a few factors to consider for safety and comfort: 1. Restricted Access ● You may need to avoid walking on the treated areas for 12-24 hours during curing. Plan to stay in unaffected rooms or areas. ● Bathrooms and kitchens will be temporarily inaccessible if being worked on. 2. Noise and Disruption ● The process involves mixing and application tools that can be noisy. It may also cause dust if old grout is being removed. 3. Safety Precautions ● Children and pets should be kept away from the work area due to chemical exposure and slippery surfaces. If the grouting is being done in a small section (eg, 1 bathroom, kitchen splash, feature wall, bedroom etc), you can likely stay home comfortably. For larger projects, consider staying elsewhere temporarily if the disruption is significant.
  • In terms of grouting steps, can you highlight the differences between reno-in-progress and reno-completed units?
For reno-in-progress: after all tile installation is done, leave the tile gap unfilled (no grouting needed). I-home will come and do a complete cleaning on the tiles installed and subsequently carry out epoxy grouting processes. Normally we need a few days to complete the whole grouting service, during these days, NO other renovation works should be done concurrently. For reno-completed: I-home needs to remove existing normal grout applied in the tile gaps, followed by thorough cleaning, and subsequently epoxy grouting procedures. Normally, it will take a few days for us to complete the whole process.
  • What are the key benefits of epoxy grouting?
Epoxy grouting is a highly durable and versatile material widely used in construction and tile installations. Its unique composition (a two-part system of epoxy resin and hardener) provides distinct advantages over traditional cement-based grouts. Below are the key benefits: 1. Exceptional Durability and Strength 2. Waterproof and Moisture Resistance 3. Chemical and Stain Resistance 4. Low Maintenance and Longevity 5. Aesthetic Flexibility - Color Variety & Consistent Appearance 6. Versatile Applications 7. Hygienic and Safe
  • How long does it normally take to complete the grouting service?
The time required to complete an epoxy grouting service depends on several factors, including the area size, tile size, grout line width, and working conditions. However, here’s a general estimate: ● Small area (e.g., bathroom, kitchen backsplash, or small room): Around 1 day ● Medium-sized area (e.g., standard living room or kitchen floor): 1-2 days ● Large area (e.g., commercial space or entire house flooring): 2-3 days Additional Considerations: 1. Surface Preparation – Cleaning and removing old grout (if necessary) can add extra time. 2. Curing Time – Epoxy grout typically cures within 24 hours. 3. Complexity of Work – Intricate patterns or small tiles take longer due to precision work. 4. Ventilation and Temperature – Warm, dry conditions speed up curing, while cold or humid conditions may slow it down.
  • What are the differences between epoxy grout and marble gum?
Epoxy grout and marble gum (also called marble glue or resin) are both materials used for filling joints and repairing surfaces, but they have different compositions, uses, and properties. Here are the key differences: 1. Composition: ● Epoxy Grout: Made from epoxy resins and a filler powder, making it highly durable, chemical-resistant, and waterproof. ● Marble Gum: A type of resin-based filler (often polyurethane or acrylic-based) mixed with fine stone powder, designed specifically for marble and stone surfaces. 2. Uses & Applications: ● Epoxy Grout: Used for grouting tile joints, especially in wet areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools. It is commonly used for ceramic, porcelain, and stone tiles. ● Marble Gum: Primarily used for filling gaps in marble flooring or countertops, repairing cracks, and leveling surfaces. It is also used for seamless joint finishing in high-end stonework. 3. Durability & Strength: ● Epoxy Grout: Extremely strong, stain-resistant, and durable, ideal for areas exposed to water, chemicals, or heavy use. ● Marble Gum: Softer and less durable than epoxy, but blends seamlessly with marble surfaces and can be polished to a high shine. 4. Water & Stain Resistance: ● Epoxy Grout: 100% waterproof and highly resistant to stains, chemicals, and mold. ● Marble Gum: Offers moderate water resistance but is more porous and prone to stains compared to epoxy grout. 5. Flexibility & Shrinkage: ● Epoxy Grout: Rigid and non-flexible, which can lead to cracking in case of structural movement. ● Marble Gum: More flexible and slightly elastic, making it better suited for minor structural shifts in marble installations. 6. Aesthetic & Finish: ● Epoxy Grout: Available in various colors but has a matte or slightly glossy finish. ● Marble Gum: Can be polished to match the natural shine of marble, making joints nearly invisible. 7. Maintenance & Cleaning: ● Epoxy Grout: Low maintenance, easy to clean, and does not absorb moisture or stains. ● Marble Gum: Requires periodic maintenance and resealing, as it can wear down or discolor over time. 8. Application & Workability: ● Epoxy Grout: Requires skilled application due to its fast-setting nature and sticky consistency. Once cured, it is difficult to remove. ● Marble Gum: Easier to apply and shape but requires polishing and buffing after application to blend with marble surfaces. Conclusion: ● If you need strong, waterproof, and stain-resistant grout for tile joints, epoxy grout is the best choice. ● If you want a seamless, polished finish for marble surfaces, marble gum is ideal.
